Tasha Mrazek

Born: 1971 in Benoni South Africa
Lives and Works: Benoni South Africa
I have been immersed in the world of arts and interiors for the past 32 years, constantly pushing the boundaries of creativity. I am recognized for my expressive abstract artwork, particularly in the realm of captivating evocative abstract and landscape paintings, I strive to create pieces that evoke deep emotions and inspire awe. Reflecting my deep fascination with spiritual aspects that govern and create our world and how we view reality. I place significance on form, and the intrinsic qualities and capabilities of paint mediums, over content.

Current Process

My artistic style has evolved over time, fluctuating in its degree of form from my early years of hyper-realism, particularly in the subject matter of macro flowers, to a more abstract style with a mere suggestion of form. During these early years of my exploration of abstraction, I experimented with various paint mediums, pushing the boundaries in their application. As early as 2005, I was already exploring the capabilities of translucent and opaque oil paint in different consistencies and colours, pouring and flowing into each other, long before any trends of fluid art emerged.
In these early stages of my development, mark a time in my life where I had a deep enquiring into the meaning of life. The fascination with sacred geometry as a build blocks of life and their significance through the ages. Sacred geometry such as ratios like the Golden Ratio and the Fibonacci sequence is believed to be fundamental to the creation and structure of the universe. I gravitated towards the circle and spiral which is a shape that can be seen in many of my early abstract paintings.

Her style has evolved into an abstract contemporary style, inspired by nature and the universe itself. The meaning behind her life, is the very feeling which she carries through her paintings.
A continuous dance of energy which is as easy as breathing in and breathing out, as simple as giving and receiving,
as vital as being, as infinite as the universe, and as fascinating as magic

Early Life and Development

MY PROCESS

Through the years, I progressed to a further stage of purification, where I focused more on the application of my medium and its intrinsic qualities and capabilities. Colour became the primary creator of form and texture. The entire piece was formed through the pouring of paint, with very few brush strokes, leading to the loss of all recognition of form. Instead, I aimed to capture the interplay of white space, juxtaposed with colour and texture. This energy drives me to paint in a state of totality, where the medium itself surprises and guides me. She uses the natural energies of the universe to manipulate the medium. The medium moves and reacts and creates its own creation even to the surprise of the artist.
In my artistic process, I often employ mixed media techniques, incorporating elements like embossed wallpaper and fabric, to create rich and multi-layered surfaces. To evoke a feeling deep in the soul She strive to paint in a state of totality, so as not to dictate the out-come of the painting.
